Growing interest in Umpqua Community College’s new wine program is reported in this article from Oregon Business Magazine. Along with the nice recognition for the college is some mentions of people putting their money down for vineyard land in the area – including a 1,500 acre parcel purchased by an unnamed named California family.

Over the long-term I think this project offers one of the area’s brightest opportunities for economic diversification and growth for our area. The elements of vineyards, education, access and recreational opportunities may significantly raise our profile as a “must visit” destination.
